On Monday, industry heads, thought leaders and government officials gathered for EDAWN’s announcement of the latest company to locate its headquarters in Reno.

Hosted at Whitney Peak Hotel, Capstak was joined by Governor Brian Sandoval, Mayor Hillary Schieve, Lucas Ingvoldstad, representative for Senator Harry Reid, John Slaughter, Washoe County Manager and Mike Kazmierski, President and CEO of EDAWN. Audience members included Capstak supporters, commercial real estate professionals and those with a vested interest in the new Nevada.

Governor Brian Sandoval began by welcoming Capstak to the “Nevada family”. The commercial real estate vertical market network adds to the myriad of businesses beginning to call Reno their home.

“We all feel this momentum and it’s not slowing down and it’s something that’s translating across our great state,” said Governor Sandoval. “In fact our job growth rate is as strong as it has ever been in the state of Nevada.”

Capstak Co-founders, Michael Schnabel and Heather Goldman, considered both national and global markets to headquarter the company, but decided Reno was the most strategic fit.

“With much gratitude, we have been overwhelmed by the reception we have received in Northern Nevada and its outpouring of support confirms why we chose Reno as our headquarters,” said Michael Schnabel, co-founder of Capstak.

"They certainly had other options to scale their company,” said Mike Kazmierski, president and CEO of EDAWN. “That opportunity to grow the next great company here is something we all should be really involved in and supportive [of], because it really does make a difference.”

Capstak combines aspects of social connectivity and leading edge technology to create efficiency and transparency in the commercial real estate marketplace. Serving a wealth of needs in one place is not only the complexity in the foundation of Capstak, but the very essence of the platform’s worth.

“I really love when we see technology modernize and improve traditional industries and that’s exactly what Capstak does,” said Governor Sandoval.

“We’re honored to have you in the city of Reno” Mayor Schieve added.

Along with the Governor and Mayor’s endorsement, Senator Harry Reid’s office presented Capstak with a Certificate of Commendation that stated, “In commemoration of locating your national headquarters in Reno, Nevada and in recognition of your efforts to connect, enable, and inform the global commercial real estate community.”

Capstak contributes to the economic growth in Northern Nevada through its headquarters, projected employment numbers and average salaries. But, Capstak’s economic impact is greater than itself. The platform enables deals to be made through actionable connectivity, meaning the output of the product also creates economic value.

“We love the role real estate plays in cities and in supporting strong communities,” Goldman said. “We started with an idea -- to make our markets work better and more efficiently using leading-edge technology, and now that idea is a reality with Capstak.com.”
